Pencaitland Railway Path Car Park (West)
The car park is reasonably sized and the cycle route is great. However, if you have roof mounted cycles beware of the entrance! It has a 1.9m height restriction, so if you have a roof mounted rack you'll need to remove the bikes before entering. The adjacent gate was locked on our visit, so this was the only option.

Pencaitland Railway Path Car Park (West)
It's a lovely 6½ mile countryside cycle if that's your thing. I once picked up a puncture on this route due to cut bramble branches on the path. I had no mobile signal as part of the route is in a valley and had to walk out to Crossgatehall before phone service returned, and I could be rescued. By the way, the bike tyres were meant to be protected from puncture with a kevlar membrane fitted in wheels. Spare inner tubes now carried at all times

Pencaitland Railway Path Car Park (West)
This is a car park. It's for parking your car in. There are no facilities, like toilets. If you drive a tall car, like a motorhome, you'll not be able to park it due to height restrictions. Also, if you're a wheelchair user, you'll be unable to access the path due to gates.

A well laid out path for cycling on but west carpark needs sone maintenance.Interesting historical info on wooden signage and stones,highly recomnended for walking and cycling

A nice walk with various seats along the route you do need to be aware of cyclists who ride at fast speeds and can catch you unawares
