I've been learning Portuguese from scratch with Rubens for almost 2 years and I feel very lucky to have found such a great teacher. His approach is methodical and fun and we quickly progressed from grammar to conversation making it useful for actually communicating about day to day things. He is very encouraging, always builds some revision and new material into each class and I always enjoy the classes. I highly recommend taking classes with him.

Rubens is an amazingly professional and attentive teacher! The way he teaches allows you to understand the structure of Portuguese very clearly, as well as to build and increase vocabulary. Rubens also shows an amazing flexibility and always adjusts classes to his students’ needs. Highly recommend!

Rubens is a great teacher. Engaging, flexible, patient and tailors conversation practice based on experience and topics of interest. The online format is also helpful for those without much time on their hands.

Honestly the best teacher I have ever had. I've been learning Portuguese with Rubens for a year now and I'm so happy with how I've progressed. Rubens' lessons are light hearted, engaging and he has a lovely manner in ensuring you feel supported in your learning but also stretched. Rubens did an incredible job by tailoring the lessons to my own interests and making them as interactive as possible. Rubens is a pleasure to work with, he is always well prepared, very patient with his students, and keeps the lessons lighthhearted and stimulating. He often went out of his way to arrange classes around my frequently busy and unpredictable work schedule, even at very short notice. Rubens also challenged me to learn more in terms of vocabulary and grammar through various exercises which we worked on together.I don't often do many recommendations but when I come accross people who are phenomenal and really deserve it I do it - Rubens is such a person. Rubens is an excellent teacher and I would strongly recommend his services.

Brazilian Portuguese with Rubens is absolutely brilliant. He's a great teacher and his lessons are well structured for beginners. The classes are supplemented with well thought out material that really helps progression at a good steady pace. He's also incredibly friendly and patient, and is more than willing to go through previous topics / questions to ensure a thorough understanding, as well as explaining nuances within the language. Conversation lessons are also really enjoyable and full of funny jokes! Learning Portuguese with Rubens feels less like studying and more like fun all the while progressing with great speed! I'm really pleased with how much I've learned over such a short period. Thank you Rubens!

Sem dúvida, Rubens é um professor excelente!I have been studying Brazilian Portuguese with Rubens weekly now for 9 months, and I am astounded at how much progress I have made. As somebody who scraped a pass at GCSE French, I never considered I had any such aptitude for languages, but with Rubens’s patient, methodical, and engaging teaching style I have made enormous progress, to where I am able to converse with relatives in Brazil quite comfortably.I came as an absolute beginner with zero knowledge of Portuguese (aside from olá and obrigado!), and in 9 months I am comfortable with (although yet to fully master without errors) all variations of the past, present and future tense (of which there are many in Portuguese!).Moreover, Rubens’s centrally located office in the heart of London has been super easy to reach after work hours, always with perfect punctuality for lesson start and end times, which Rubens is generously flexible with.I have recently moved abroad, but am still continuing my weekly classes with Rubens over Skype, as I find our conversational practice so helpful and fun. Rubens is also such a warm and lovely guy to talk with, and I find myself looking forward to our lessons every week.Thank you so much, Rubens - you have been a fantastic teacher! I cannot recommend you enough :-)

I have been doing Portuguese lessons with Rubens for nearly 9 months now and could not be happier with the progression I have made. The classes start out by working through Rubens' grammar notes, (which are really good to get the basics) and then quickly move on to conversations.
