Not a professional serviceHaving been happy to see that LCW Sheen was a registered “Canyon Specialist” I was keen to try and support local business by taking my Canyon Ultimate CF there. I’ve been servicing 90% of components on my bike for several years, but specifically needed someone else to: a) fully service the bottom bracket (not just inspect), b) bleed the hydraulic brakes, and c) update Di2 firmware - which I saw were some of the services offered online. With an upcoming trip to the alps for a week, I was pretty keen to get these jobs completed, for safety more than anything else.I handed the bike over and specified that a, b & c were the specific jobs that I needed done. I was told that it would need a ‘general service’ as well (£70)… despite my explanation, and demonstration, that it had literally been stripped and fully cleaned the day before - it was spotless. I also specifically explained that both the front and rear brake disks AND pads had been replaced not 4 weeks ago as I replaced the entire wheel set.I was somewhat concerned that none of this was being written down at the time.I picked up the bike today (+4 days) and upon further inspection, was very surprised to find the following from the gentleman I originally dropped it off with:a) The bottom bracket was not fully serviced: Evidenced by the fact that there was no note of it happening, nor was it separately charged for on the receipt (which was expected).b) No mention or idea if the brakes were bled: Again, as per the above, no mention of it on the receipt, nor a distinct charge for it (expected). I asked if it had been done, to which he gave the brake lever a squeeze and said, “looks ok to me”. Again- didn’t do what was clearly requested. To add insult to injury, I was told that the front break pads had been replaced… they were FOUR WEEKS old and had done <100km - no way were they in need of replacing.C) Di2: The firmware was updated…for £30!? I don’t know of any other bike shop in the world that has charged me to literally plug a cable & pc into the bike and hit ‘update’. It’s software- it literally doesn’t cost them a penny to do this. This charge is also not listed on the, “full price list” published on the website. Shocking. In summary - pretty angry, disappointed in a “Canyon Specialist” (should be revoked) and a waste of 4 days.I should have gone to Pearson Bikes around the corner, where the rest of our family go.Fine if you have a single speed bike and just need it looked at. Clearly not set up for anything more than that.2 stars as at least it's not returned in a worse state.

I wish I wasnt writing this, but they have failed to reply to my email. When I dropped my bike off, I came in with a new wheel (without the spokes), to which I was told I wouldn’t need it, I showed the chap that the current wheel was very clearly warped, and he confirmed that he’ll just get the bike working as best they can given the bikes age.I just went to collect it, and, on the receipt, it says “Wheels trued best possible, but heavily warped/several impact deflections”. To me, that means I need a new wheel!!When I spoke to someone on the phone, the week after dropping the bike in, I was told that you could weld new brakes on, but the Harry, at the desk (when I went to collect) referred me to someone in east London…As you can imagine, I am a little bit confused. Also, it states on the receipt “test ridden” but if it was test ridden, you’d had noticed that the saddle is completely loose, like someone has fitted the wrong size saddle post...

Picked up the bike they built for me. I managed to go on a day when the mech who built it wasn't there sadly, but he did a cracking job and I am very pleased with it. We'd talked at some length and he'd given me advice about a few things, that we followed through on and so the bike was what we agreed and it works well. I've missed riding an Emonda and this was no let-down.

Unlike other places I've been to where I've felt undermined asking for help with my bike, The London Cycle Workshop has very friendly staff, they treat you with respect and dignity as a female cyclist getting her road bike fixed/serviced/in need of muscle. Also very fair prices.

Highly recommend. Great shop with all the quality supplies you could ever need. A skilled and helpful team of mechanics on a mission to give you the best service. I rented a bike box and was hugely impressed with the care that went into packing up my bike and putting it back together again when I returned. In a superb area nestled between amazing restaurants and cafés so you can combine good food with your bike repair.
