About the Business
Pea Porridge - Michelin Star Restaurant - Bury St Edmunds | Pea Porridge opened its doors in October 2009 and is an independently owned neighbourhood restaurant, located on a square, which was once a green, called “Pea Porridge Green”. The green is gone long ago, but we have borrowed its name for our restaurant; situated in the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds, barely five minute walk from Butter Market (market is still held every Wednesday and Saturday). Find us tucked away in a quiet residential area next door to Old Cannon Brewery on Cannon Street.

Phenomenal food and great service. All the dishes I had were incredible with fresh ingredients. Would highly recommend visiting pea and porridge.

Pea Porridge
Small restaurant with food that you would not normally taste elsewhere. The menu changes frequently and you definitely need reservations. The enjoyable part was in tasting meats that are not common. From the outside and inside too, with bare wooden tables, it looks like nothing much. But the food is fantastic. Two ladies efficiently took care of the service.

Lovely restaurant & for a Michelin star it's affordable.The only reason I booked to go here was due to the star.Overall a lovely little restaurant but whilst the food was great there wasn't a wow" factor to the food that I would expect from a Michelin star."

Fantastic flavours and attention to detail. Every bite was savoured... the staff were very attentive, friendly and pleasant. Great choices in menu and wine, definately a little gem in the heart of Suffolk.

Pea Porridge is more than deserving of its Michelin star and is well on its way to its second. Homely, but sophisticated. Cosy but refined. The staff are kind, attentive and knowledgeable, proudly telling you about the produce and it's provenance. The food is to die for. I'd be delighted to go again and experience more of this expertly crafted restaurant. 10 / 10.

Pea Porridge surpassed my culinary expectations! The sea bass was exquisite, and the chocolate mousse was a divine finale. The exceptional service, complete with expert wine recommendations, made the dining experience truly memorable. Highly recommend this restaurant for a delightful gastronomic journey.

A lovely, cosy restaurant. The staff are friendly and happy to answer questions about the menu and offer advice on wine pairings.The food is superb, top notch ingredients and the chef lets them speak for themselves. Rustic, but refined in style with bold punchy flavours, we loved every bite of our meal here.Highly recommended this place, we're looking forward to going back soon.

Fantastic meal at Pea Porridge, the staff were amazing, great reccomendation on wine. Food was stunning (all dishes, but particulalry the Quail!) and delicious. North African flavours done brilliantly. Make sure that you order the flat breads!!
