The front entrance has a steep slope 45 degree angle, so go around the back for a more accessible entrance. The foyer has smooth floors that are easy to navigate in a wheelchair and there is a wheelchair spacious toilet on the same floor. You need a radar key to access the toilet, the rooms that you go in are not accessible, you cannot sit straight at the table which caused me a lot of pain and discomfort. For a civic centre and what it represents, it should be more accessible regardless if it's an old building or not adaptions can be made to most buildings. There is a cafe, but it's accessible via stairs and there is a lift that goes down stairs. I have not used it, so I cannot vouch for that end of the building.

They have subcontracted jobs with Morgan Shindals. That company has been a nightmare to deal with. They have cancelled a lot of my appointments, wasted my working time and I lose income on wasted days and when I call Southessex homes for help, they say they can't help. I keep having to take days off for before any job can be completed. Can't speak to tenancy officer.

I have just recently lost my mother 23rd Jan. I have been given until 19th March to vacate her bungalow. Cleared her bungalow this weekend and had inspection today ready to hand keys back. But have been informed I still need to pay full rent until 19th March. When asked why, I was informed the council dont want to lose money on an empty property.I did'nt want my mother to die unexpectedly, so why should I have to pay for extra 2 weeks rent on a empty property.

The fella that came out today, 14/9/23 was an absolute gem! He identified an issue that the person who came out on 13/9/23 didn't qcknowledge or identify. He cleared the BLOCKED drainage systems that incorporated more than 23 flats! So yeah impressed with the fella today. He was only a youngster but knew his job and what needed to be done. Such a shame that the other fella couldn't do his job properly

Phoned this morning at 7:38 as bathroom and kitchen sink over flowing with raw sewage. Phoned multiple times today as no one has been it's now 18:17 still no one, with flooding happening in my flat It's not safe for my 6month old, 3year old and 9year old. The reply I got from an unpleasant man was It's been raised" it was raised at 7:38 &10:00&11:30&2ish&4:45&5:22."

The concrete base in our front room has blown causing the flooring on top to twist,raise,bust etc. This means it's stopping doors to open(fire hazzard). Amongst the people living in the house is my daughter expecting twins,I have informed South Essex Homes numerous times. The posts giving these guys 5 *s,yeah you got lucky because I had a guy knock on my door Friday night at 7pm clutching a philips and flathead screwdriver and an adjustable spanner. What's he going to about my repair with them?????? The surveyor hasn't even been round yet!!!!!. Like I said,would still give 0 if I could.

Disgusting, this place charges rent for customers who have passed away.I have to pay for a whole months rent now even though my relative wont be using the flat because he is dead.They say its because it gives me time to get his belongings. I could have everything collected in half hour. Charging dead people rent, i have heard it all.

When my health started to deteriorate Southend Council listened to what my issue was and helped us. We have had no complaints at all. The property we now have........ let me put it this way......... it has everything we have asked for and couldn't be more happier.

I wrote a review about this company. I know it got attention. I am sorry to the council and South Essex Homes employees that are for the most part very very good, decent and kind people. I don't have a bathroom I can personally use. I can't wash properly. I can't prepare food properly. There is terrible mould and damp and water damage from leaking to flooding. Please can I have some support from tenancy. Please could you contact my current family member who is advocate for me. I don't want , need or can cope with the stress of legal letters and action. I have done everything each person has asked me and kept to every single agreement made but no one will talk to my family or me. I have waited in since January for the contractors to make my home safe and fit and let every single visitor in my home. It does have flaky asbestos and water damaged asbestos coatings and there are new cracks running the length of the property. I can't keep waiting for contractors who can't do the work. I have kept my promise to the court but I can't keep it if tenancy service at South Essex Homes refuse to contact my advocate before anymore work is carried out on my home. Please help me. I am very very tired, exhausted and unwell. I promise I would only shout if I was backed in to a corner and being bullied. I have only asked for help and support and reported staff misconduct and questioned that. I have never sworn or shouted at anyone unless they repeatedly are doing it to me and I can't get out of the way or unable to. I love Southend and South Essex Homes. I was tenancy newcomer 2011. My home has been in serious disrepair for over 9 years . This was supposed to be the end and a new beginning for me. please help me. Please x

So glad they have not been given new contracts when Queensway redevelopment goes ahead. They don't handle any issues they just want your money. 12 years of rent increases inline with anti social behaviour issues and deterioration in the blocks.
