Athena Events Venue

Went to Bongo's Bingo here last night it was very well organised and security guarded.Everyone wants a table down the front. I rickshaw against it as the wooden floor gets very slippy when the alcohol is inevitably spilled, and there was alot spilled!I recommend getting a table that has carpet underneath it.Also the ladies toilets were very well organised with someone directing you to the next empty toilet which makes the que go faster

Great night I went with 4 friends from work to watch athenas fight night semi pro boxing awesome event fantastic evening plenty of alcohol no food was available unfortunately but overall 10.10 for service been here a few times now last time I was coaching would definitely recommend for a fabulous venue.

I attended a bongo bingo event, during this event my friends needed support from the staff and medics. The staff was incredible and really helped us.The venue itself is disabled friendly, plenty of parking around the venue and easily Accessible for taxis.

Went for an events evening recently. Dressed up the whole place with a Christmas theme which was lovely. Great service and great food.Entertainment was brilliant.

I attended the Leicestershire Tourism & Hospitality Awards dinner at Athena on the 30th November. I've always liked Athena as a venue although I haven't been for a couple of years. Still a great venue and the reason I've given this review a 1 star is due to the appalling behaviour of the door staff. I booked a table (a great expense) for all my staff to attend and celebrate at the dinner. The evening was spoilt due to the 'Old Skool', meat-head bouncers on the door. I have a member of staff who wears a 'smart' flat cap as he is badly scarred on his head from a car crash and very self-conscious of this. On the evening he wore a black smart cap along with his dinner suit which looked very smart. The 'bouncers' wouldn't let him in due to him wearing a cap! They aggressively made him take it off which caused him a lot of distress. A member of the Athena staff was finally contacted and she fortunately said it was ok to let him in wearing the cap. An absolute disgrace! Come on Athena, sort out your 'security' staff. It's not a nightclub in 1980's Leicester, which I'm sure is where the door staff you currently employ originated from.

Went to Athena on 10/12/23 for a Xmas do. It was a great evening and Ollie and Elizabeth who worked the upstairs bar were spot on!

Interesting listed ex-cinema which no doubt looks fabulous when set up and lit for an event, with cabaret-style seating available in the stalls and circle which must work wonderfully for a light entertainment show.

We had a great evening, food was definitely better than expected - it was delicious. I was on an all inclusive alcohol night which worked well and I'd say worth it, when it came to ordering drinks that weren't included like cocktails we had to wait a long time as there was only one person serving around 20-30 people. The entertainment was brilliant and the stage turned into a dancefloor which was great fun. The only thing that let it down was the advertisement of fairground rides" as there were none. There was a disappointing strength tester where you try to hit the pad hard enough to ring the bell and a tarot card reader but that was it
