Great little local corner shop/newsagents with very friendly staff

Friendly staff. Lovely little local shop

It is an incredibly convenient shop for things you didn’t know you needed. I mainly use it for collecting parcels & all the staff are super friendly and efficient, always ready to chat and love dogs. Mr Crow aka PP is also surreal really needs to be seen to be believed.

I wasn't around in the 1950's when children had Meccano instead of TikTok and when a day trainspotting with jam sandwiches was the sweet summation of a school holiday.Sadly those days have past.However, in small corners of the UK there lingers still, some happy echoes of those halcyon days.Amongst them is P W Sears the newsagents. You step in the door and you step back into a more laid back and courteous age and for a moment you want to swap your grubby tuppence, for 4 aniseed balls and a penny gobstopper.Another regular customer is Percival Pilchard. He never pays for anything. Instead perches outside and caws for attention. Mr Pilchard is a very clean and respectable crow and when he calls, the staff will take his order out to him and not sully the relationship with hints that he should finally settle up his account.Papers and magazines are delivered, usually by well mannered paperboy's and girls.A beautiful shop and a well deserved 5 stars.
