Cannamore Camping

Stayed for 3 nights in this idyllic location. Very peaceful, the two fields have been left to nature, with long grass and wild flowers taking over. There are three electrical hook up pitches and a Shepards hut in the top corner but most of the site is set aside for simple camping with pitches mown out of the long grass with ample space between them. Flushing toilets and showers at one end of the field were clean and very nice inside. The fields are gently sloping and quite elevated, offering nice views across to the rolling fields beyond. We camped in the lower field which is the steeper of the two but still our pitch was almost flat.Cannemore offers a very peaceful camping experience which was exactly what we were looking for. I enjoyed listening to the Crow's, Swift's and Pheasants in the surrounding trees and hedgerows. Roy, who's family have farmed this area since 1896 was very affable, as well as knowledgeable about managing the countryside. Thanks to Roy and his team for a lovely stay.

Before arrival, Matthew was helpful in answering all my questions through emails. We loved it, peace and quiet beautiful views. Clean toilets and showers. Local beauty spots and attractions nearby. The owner was friendly and helpful ~ Apologies for not remembering his name.

What can I say about this little gem of a place...you'll hate the stunning views and absolute peace. You'll be horrified at having your own personal, lockable, spotless toilet to use. You'll be disappointed with the gorgeous Shepherds Hut, how it is so cosy and has every little thing you could possibly need (what other self-catering place has Olive oil, Balsamic Vinegar, homemade jams, stocked fridge etc!)In other words - don't book this please because I'm ready to renounce all my worldly goods and live in this special place full time and you'd be spoiling my plan.Roy- you've put so much thought and care into this place and can't wait to come back.

Excellent campsite with panoramic countryside views. The site was clean with excellent facilities. Roy and his team couldn’t have been more helpful with local knowledge. A campsite I would happily recommend. Thank you

Stayed for couple of nights in tent June 2023.Quite a bit of rubbish on road leading to campsite which wasnt great, but campsite wont have full control of this.Communication over phone good.Guy that met us to give us keys to toilets seemed very nice.Basically a field with long grass and wildflowers around outside with pitches and adjoining 'roads' mowed in. Surrounded by small trees/hedge. Does look pretty, like a meadow. There is second adjoining field with similar pitches mowed in but didnt seem quite as nice with rusted farm equipment.Can take car right to pitch - useful.Good views over surrounding countryside and rolling hills although not breathtaking.Has multiple individual toilets and 2x individual shower units off to one side of field. Key for each shower unit (shared other campers) and toilet (individual/private toilet for each pitch - very good) which haven't seen before. Cleanliness very good but not spotless. Warm shower, solar powered - nice, with no time limit! Outside surface of toilets looked bit old/drab - paint flaking I think etc but nothing crazy.Sink for washing up and multiple drinking water taps - nice.First field seemed to have slight slope, nothing crazy though, just not perfectly flat like some pitches are. We chose least steep looking in first field and was ok but was some slight sliding down sleeping mat throughout night, only slight. Some of pitches in second field seemed very steep but I guess may not be for tents.Very good distance between pitches; each pitch mowed into long grass with good bit of long grass between each pitch so does seem quite isolated from other campers which is very nice.Could hear slight road noise I think one night of the 2 but nothing crazy. Proximity to main road useful for exploring local area.Good campsite. Thanks.

Patrick and I just loved this wonderful place and it's natural beauty ! We were very happy living in peace in the middle of a meadow which was cut only for a few tent pitches. Roy told us it should have been full of flowers had it not been for the severe Summer draught..We hope we can come back some day and see them ! We enjoyed also very much the nice way Roy welcame us and we were very interested to learn about his ecological work for the conservation of the moors and also about the farm.Congratulations and thanks a lot Roy !Let's keep in touchDona

A little piece of heaven…….As you enter the wooded tunnel entrance it felt like you were in a fairy tale. At the other end we were greeted with a big warm smile from Roy and the beautiful camping meadows he has created.Pitches were well placed and cut out in the long grass. Main facilities are in the top meadow and were clean, well maintained and the shower was lovely. There were also toilet facilities in the lower meadow.At Cannamore it’s all about peace, nature and appreciating the importance of the meadows and the wildlife they attract.Thank you Roy and team for this amazing place and for making us feel so welcome. It was great chatting with you about the area and finding out about your family’s farming history as well as your continuing good work regards the meadows and wildlife pond.
