Birth Centre at Lewisham Hospital

Incredible facility with outstanding midwives who go over and above in every way. Could not have asked for better care during and after labour.

Amazing birth centre. Highly recommended. Modern facilities, your own large private room. Great midwives. And a 'beacon' award as one of the best birth centres in the UK..... we had a great experience here and recommend really highly the experience.

We had the most wonderful experience delivering our daughter at the Birth Centre. The midwives were absolutely amazing, encouraging, supportive and caring and made the entire experience unforgettable. My delivery midwife was Sharon and she was just incredible and so helpful and encouraging! We also received a lot of help and support from other midwives - Natalie, Taz, Amy, Eva, Becka, Alex, Zoe and the student midwife Chezia - they were all so wonderful! I can't recommend Lewisham Birth Centre enough. It felt like being in a private hospital.

Avoid Lewisham hospital at all costs, terrible place to have a baby. Some magnificent midwifes but the majority are average and some are positively cruel.

Overall I m happy with the majority of staff inside Lewisham Hospital birth center but the most important help and support my wife had was from midwifes. There is some passivity from other staff who maybe don't want to involve to much but everything was good, even the security team helped us. Wish I was a millionaire to donate money for birth wing as there is always something to upgrade but I hope karma works and help the staff that was so nice to us.

We gave birth to our son less than a month ago at Lewisham’s Birth Centre. It has been a positive and unforgettable experience and we felt so lucky to have the birth I had wished for: a natural delivery with no interventions, with the ability to use the pool and some gas and air only when needed.The room we were in was spacious and comfortable, with a double bed, birthing stool, pool, and own bathroom. Our midwife Becky (Rebecca Louise Mitchell) has been absolutely wonderful, discreet yet supportive. And I thank her and others for having allowed us to have a safe and empowering experience.—A downside? Due to shortage of staff, it was supposed to be closed for the night. And if that had happened, I am sure we would have a different story to tell. I wish there was more certainty and NHS could guarantee such facilities would always stay open.

I gave birth to my lovely daughter 3 years ago.It was a natural birth inside the “pool” in the maternity suite.My partner stay with my all the time and he could sleep with me and the baby as it was like an hotel room.It was a great experience.The midwifes were great too, I wish I could remember their names because I couldn’t thank them enough.
