Canton Martial Arts - Ashford

Canton in Ashford from my experience is a great club to learn martial arts. The teaching is excellent, Instructors knowledgeable and everyone is friendly and welcoming. So whether it’s fitness, self defence or somewhere to de-stress and learn something new Canton Martial Arts is a great place to do it.

Absolutely superb dojo - I could not be happier. My son is quite shy but I have seen his confidence grow exponentially over the few weeks that he has been attending. Sensei Lisa (along with the other instructors) is wonderful at instilling the values of karate in her pupils. It is a pleasure to see so many young children having fun and enjoying themselves, while simultaneously taking such pride in their learning.I would highly recommend Canton Martial Arts. It is reasonably priced and the communication of information is exceptional.

Since my 11yr old daughter joined Canton martial arts her confidence has grown so much that she has enrolled on the Junior training program and now helps coach. Before she would always take a back seat at school,she now auditions for lead roles in school plays, her fitness has improved also, and her teachers have commented on the positive change in her attitude to learning, all this in 8 months of joining. Canton has a great family atmosphere.

Excellent place with amazing staff. My daughter loves juniors and is learning so much. She is excited to go every week and the encouragement they give them in every class is over and above anything i have ever seen before in these sorts of classes. It's lovely that you are able to watch the classes and see how they are getting on. It's great seeing what they are achieving in each session. Thank you Sensei Lisa and team.

Canton Martial Arts is excellent, certainly for children in my experience. Lisa and her team get the children really engaged, motivated and energised. They work on self defence, confidence and discipline amongst other things. Highly recommended for children of all ages. Thanks Lisa and team.

My daughter joined recently and loves attending her classes 3 days a week. The welcome during her trial was warm and she immediately felt like she had found the right place to be.I cannot thank and recommend Canton enough.

So this review is of the group we go to, in Ashford. We go to the dojo in Kingsnorth school where the sensei is normally Lisa, with Stefan.The first trial lesson was interesting, with my son refusing to engage for most of it. That's on him though, as he's only 4 so he does sometimes behave like that at swimming as well. However, towards the end of the session, it was evident to Lisa that he was sort of keeping an eye on things, and so she was able to coax him towards doing some of the exercises. I'm so glad she offered us another trial, as that could have been the end of his karate journey. There's no way we could sign him up on the basis of that trial!The second week, he was like a kid possessed. I just sat there on the bench provided for us parents, with a big grin on my face, watching him learn blocks, run up and down the hall, and he was thoroughly enjoying himself. On the strength of that, we were lucky enough to get a 4 week package to see how he does and he is now signed up for the full membership.I don't want to jinx it, he's a stubborn kid and if he starts to not enjoy it, we might have to coax him through, but getting him there early, allowing him to chat with the instructors and warm up, is working really well at the moment. So much so, my wife is so engaged through the lessons, she wants to have a go as well!I really like what I see at these classes. I don't know how long my son will stick at it, but for the moment, it's having what I firmly believe is a positive effect on him.I'm happy to recommend this martial arts group on our limited experience so far.

Having attending martial arts myself and now supporting my son Max having moved from a different school of Karate, I can Definitely give a 5-star review for Canton in Ashford if it helps and guide people who are searching for a Great Karate class and to have a better understanding of Canton.Not just is the class well formulated I have to say Sensei Lisa is the Driving force behind what is a great class formatWell done Sensei LisaSuch a ProfessionalBR Max and Peter

I joined Canton, Ladies Combat in Ashford over a year ago after moving to the area not knowing anyone. I’m so glad I did. Led by Coach Lisa - who has the right balance of encouragement and pushing us to get stronger - classes involve technique, self-defence and exercise.The bonus is that I’ve met a group of such fun, strong and supportive women coming to the classes! If going to the gym isn’t for you, then maybe Canton is.
