Kitchen pub classic and really good, tasty, cooked proprely. But, but ... I have Never Seen this kind of terrible service...... WE waited 15minutes just to order and it was really quiet....4 of them on a floor..... Seriously.. my husband needs to take our drinks on the bar because the waitress Saw them but didn't Care... No smile, no warm...nothing.... And service charge include so why should make them any effort.... it's a pity for the kitchen part.

The food was really well and tasty. We ate there after the tour we had about Royal Mile, and the guide recommend that restaurant, because he said it was the best in that zone. When we arrive, the pub it was really full, but the restaurant is in the first floor. We went to the first floor, and they said they didn't have any table, and we need to wait about 45 minutes. We wait for our table, during this time, we were drinking a beer and water there. The personal of the pub, it was really nice. I can say the same from the people of the restaurant, they were really nice and very attentive during our lunch. After 20 minutes or less, they called us because they had a free table. Also, they recommend some dishes, we follow the waitress, and we took the dishes she said to us. All the dishes were very tasty. We loved it.I totally recommend that restaurant. If you one day you are visiting The Royal Mile and you want to eat very well, I recommend that restaurant.

Our first dining experience in Scotland kicked off at Deacon Brodies Tavern, and it certainly left a lasting impression. Their hospitality was exceptional; they seated us by the window with a picturesque view of the Royal Mile, a thoughtful touch we didn't even request. We were particularly grateful for the care shown to our daughter, who has a nut allergy. The waitress handled her dietary needs with great attention, double-checking our orders to ensure her safety and enjoyment of the meal. Now, let's talk about the food. The seafood platter was a standout. It boasted impeccable freshness and flavor, and the seasoning was spot on. It easily ranks as one of the best meals we had during our visit to Scotland.

First time trying Haggis and it tastes good here. The steak pie is recommended, I really like it. If you don't eat much, it's better to share with friends since you will get full eating these. We came during lunch time and waited for 1 hour until we got the table. So be careful with the timing when coming here.

It was busy when we arrived. Got a table in the bar area but was asked to order bar snacks due to children. Ordered, chicken bites it was not cooked and was raw (see photo 1) returned and got a replacement which was overcooked and burnt. Didn’t complain instead we left. Needless attitude. Serve the food that needs to be served. People are on holidays and they need to enjoy the experience rather than feel neglected and disappointed.

Fish Pie for me and Steak and Ale Pie for hubs- we would both order same dishes again. The crust on Steak and Ale pie compares to dessert within the meal! Everything about our experience including a window seat upstairs made our afternoon! This was right after our day at Edinburgh Castle!! Pinch us, glorious day! Staff very friendly!!

Right on the Royal mile so it gets busy quick, we got there right when they opened and only to about 25 miles and they had a waiting list of about an hour. Definitely nice upstarts but the bar downstairs is cute too.

Quaint, very nice and relaxing environment. Went for dinner, had no wait. Table service. Staff was amazing, delightful, and courteous. Food, delicious! Had the sausage and mash wife had stovies. Basically no wait for our food, served hot and delicious. For desert, Cranachan. We enjoyed a few drinks of the alcohol persuasion. Overall an AMAZING experience. Lighting was low. Mans restroom on the first floor, woman's on the second floor, also our sit down dining experience was upstairs. Sure they serve downstairs at the bar as well.

A great central location on the Royal Mile… to kick back and unwind with either a nice cold beer (on their main floor) or a warm meal (on their second floor). A favourite amongst tourists and locals alike, its history is intriguing to say the least.
