BOOM Sail Power and Race Training

Had a great week doing my competent crew. Cris has the patience of a saint. The sailing was exciting and involved and Cris wants you to be safe and confident so doesn't dumb it down. Super comfy on board and great food and drinks too.But the most important thing is that Cris doesn't give qualifications away like so many trainers. He'll work with you to get it just right before moving on to the next thing. If you're not getting it he will find different ways to explain it and keep plugging away until it clicks.He's always really great fun and keeps it light hearted even when things aren't going your way. Which they sometimes don't around Anglesea. I've never had so much fun learning anything and 100% recommend doing your courses here. It's great value for money and it's rare that a novice can get one-on-one tuition from someone with so much talent and experience. Thanks again and see you next time. :-)

Just completed my day skipper course with a great group, one other on day skipper and 3 on comp crew, our instructor Robin was first class, very calm and extremely knowledgeable, I would highly recommend the course to anyone looking to enhance their sailing skills. Great facilities at Conwy marina are a bonusvery knowledge

Amazing day last Monday, when Cris (and his wife,) took myself and 5 others out on his beautiful boat, for a 'Taster Sailing Day'. Just had a superb 5 day Coastal Skipper course with Cris. I needed to refresh and revise my Day Skipper skills. Cris was very patient and helpful when he recognised how rusty I was and provided outstanding tuition.We also had one of my best day’s sailing ever when we sailed around Anglesey in bitterly cold but bright conditions in quite high winds. Cris inspired great confidence and turned every part of the trip into a “learning opportunity”.The food, the company, the music, and the scenery all made for a fabulous experience.I strongly recommend Boom and Cris for anyone with sail training needs. He is the best instructor I have ever had and the depth of his experience of both cruising and racing is enormously impressive.Thanks for a great 5 days Cris.

Had the option of going to the Med to do the easy sailing course out there, but had heard how half-arsed most of them were and really wanted to have a proper challenge where its not made easy and also wanted the additional impact of some proper weather. So I chose Boom Sailing in Conwy - in October - and got exactly what I was after at the very capable & professional hands of Cris Miles.I came aboard not knowing my Halyards from my Haribo's but came away with a good working knowledge of a 40ft+ Beneteau. Sometimes intense most often exciting as we plotted - navigated and sailed our way around what Nelson described as the most challenging waters in the world - Anglesey. All six of us mucked with the chores and like skiing, we all enjoyed a hearty dinner with good wine after a knackering day on the waves and even got a few songs going with Cris' guitar.Despite us all being a different levels of sailing, Cris effortlessly moved form one to the other as we were encouraged to ask any questions. Cris has sailed all his life and has also taught paragliding - so his knowledge of winds &- tides always made you feel safe. Often hilarious and occasionally amazed by the enquiring seals that popped up to say hello.If you want to learn to sail, this is the one for you. I am also considering bringing my work team here for one of our Team Building courses. Can't think of a better way to invest in my business. Cheers Cris!

Amy was excellent, very calm, very knowledgeable, Conwy Marina is a great location with great facilities. Thoroughly enjoyed my 2 days undertaking powerboat 2 course and learnt so much. Thank you.

Had a great 5 days on a Day Skipper course with Boom sailing. Well equipped boat with a patient and knowledgeable instructor. The home cooked meals were excellent and they were very welcome after a day on the water. My wife and I both feel a lot more confident to go sailing on our own after this course.

Have just completed my RYA Day Skipper course with Cris. My daughter did a Competent Crew course as well. We both learned a lot and enjoyed our courses. Cris is clearly a very experienced sailor but also an excellent instructor. I loved his home-cooked meals and thoroughly enjoyed his company in the evenings

I owe my sailing experience to Cris Miles.Going from a terrified novice to Day Skipper.Ok so it has taken 2+ years (at my own leisure) but with the patience & persiveriance of Cris I've got to the level aimed for & beyond. Not being the most confident person Cris immediatley made me feel at ease on North Star, showing & explaining to his crew what we were to be doing. When this didn't go to plan Cris would show a grin and ask what went wrong and why. No judgment made, task explained again and to have another go.My experiance & confidence keeps growing with the help of Cris and different crew which is why I continue to book and sail on North Star.North star is a fantastic schooling yacht and very forgiving (put to the test personally).During the day skipper and/or crew will share the task of food and drinks, sometimes proving difficult with rough sea's then to sit down in the evening for a good hearty meal.Cris has given me the confidence to set sail on my own yacht and to follow the sun.Thank you Boom Sail Power and Race Training
