Lovely community sacred space with regular meetings to chant and meditate together with regular courses to study Buddhist teachings at reasonable cost. Open to everyone old and new. Great little cafe with delicious homemade soups snacks and cakes incl some vegan delights.

Friendly, warm and welcoming, this is a beautiful centre with a lovely community. Gen Opel is a fantastic teacher who communicates with great clarity, wisdom and humour; she makes Buddha’s teachings accessible to our every day lives. We’re very lucky to have Akanishta Kadampa Buddhist Centre. Highly recommended.

I've been fortunate enough to make it along to a fair few classes ran by the lovely lot at Akanishta Kadampa Buddhist Centre, here in Cirencester. Everyone I have had the pleasure of meeting have been extremely welcoming, they clearly work very hard to reach out to people from all walks of life. My very first meditation class was a real eye opener for me and I have been meditating ever since. I will always be grateful for the gift that you've shared with me - I didn't know inner peace was a thing until I tried a class, thank you all !

Deeply present and welcoming people here. Warm and well maintained building, very relaxing and easy to feel at home here. The teachings I have been too so far have been transformative. If you are new to meditation or Buddhist ideas, you are well catered for and if you are experienced you'll also find it enjoyable.

I have been attending weekly classes here for several years and can highly recommend spending some time at the Centre. There is always a warm welcome and there are teachings and meditations to suit both beginners and those with more experience. There are also day courses and retreats, details of which can be found on their web site.I find the teachings and meditations both stimulating and thought provoking. They also help me to prepare myself for whatever life has to throw at me!

I cannot recommend Akanishta Buddhist Centre enough! The classes are gentle, practical and are so useful to implement in daily life. I have noticed since attending that my general mood is elevated and I become less disturbed by the things I usually do!! The resident teacher Opel is extremely knowledgable and welcoming, and the community as a whole has been warm and supportive in my journey towards training my mind to become more positive.

I thoroughly enjoyed the meditation and teachings during our sessions. The food was amazing!During lunch break I felt very uplifted and grateful to have been part of the experience and this continued into the afternoon session.Unfortunately the talk we had together after the silence was lifted, left me feeling unsettled.I felt that anytime anyone in the group had a question which couldn't be given a yes or no answer, was very politely shut down. Debate in a safe space is healthy but I felt that this wasn't to be the case. Which is a shame as I wanted to understand more about Buddhism in the modern world.I think the request for us to leave a 5 star rating on google also didn't sit well.

Meditation is proving a very beneficial practise and something I would recomend to anyone. The main benefit of these classes is the wisdom and perspective you gain. Meditating creates room in my head for creativity and patience.

I have been attending meditation classes, chanted prayers and retreats at the Buddhist centre for some time now and I feel it has changed my life. The teachings are always clear and to the point. You don't have to be a Buddhist to benefit from the teachings. I recommend the centre to all my friends and anyone who wants to develop a peaceful happy mind following simple meditation techniques described and explained in the classes. You can just drop in, people are very friendly.
