China Chef Chinese Takeaway in Birtley

Food turned up on time but chips were old and warmed back up,chicken balls were in a back which was wet with condensation causing them to stick together. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Prepared very quickly and large portion, only positives. Prawn toast didn't even taste like prawn. Mains were bizarre. Cantonese sauce was like water so all rice was soggy. Didn't even taste of Cantonese sauce. Will not be going back unfortunately. Can't upload picture but you can see how watery if is. Really disappointed given how positive the previous reviews are.

Absolutely disgusting, chicken didn't seem cooked. Chow mein tasted like a shop bought micro meal. I'm not exaggerating when I say the spare ribs had no meat on. Worst we have ever had. Please don't waste your money like I did

Ordered a set meal for 2 and asked for a couple of. Changes (soup and different flavour ribs) and chips instead of spring rollsI rand twice to confirm these changes were ok and was told yes both timesFood arrived no chips no ribsCalled and they apologised and send them (quite quick to be fair)Let’s get on to the foodThe ribs were disgusting lumps of gristle not the long ribs u usually associate with Chinese takeoutThe curry sauce was like waterI ordered house special peking which I wouldn’t give to a SeagullAnd to top it all off when I called back to ask what should be in a house special I was told by (the owner apparently) an absolutely disgusting women with no people skills whatsoever it was only chicken and beef and porkAnyone knows that house special includes king prawn and this was proven when i called back on a withheld number and asked the question to be told it definitely DOES include king prawnI challenged the ‘owner’ once again and got a load of tripe about the chef this and thatAnd when I asked for some sort of goodwill gesture as the majority of this food is only fit for the bin I was basically told to do one and if I didn’t like it to go elsewhereI’ve never experienced anything like this and urge anybody who wants to use this takeaway to think againIt’s absolutely disgustingThe menu is quite clearly copied off my other favourite take away Spicy China in shiney row which was the whole reason I thought I’d try itI’d rather eat spicy China’s binThanksVery unhappy never again customer

Chicken and chilli sauce very nice, house special in oyster sauce tasteless and like flavoured water, chips were good so a plus point there. Would I order again? Debatable. Having had another day to reflect would I order again no!!! Avoid

Gave this a go tonight and i was very impressed. Food was really tasty and i could not fault any of it.Portion sizes are generous too. Glad i came across it on just eat. My new go to now as :)

1 star because you can't give zero.Appalling food. No mushrooms in the prawn chop suey instead of prawns!Terribly disappointing indeed.

Bought king prawn and chicken fried rice and a chicken omelette, there was egg shell in the fried rice and in the omelette. Really put me off meal.

Ordered online and after an hour it hadn’t arrived. I contacted China Chef and the order had not been received. They sorted it really quickly and got my order to me and as always the food is lovely
