We used Max many years ago with our black Labrador and were very impressed so when we rescued 2 cockers recently we didn’t hesitate to contact Max again.Max gave us lots of encouragement and the skills we needed to bring out the best in our 2 girls. I have been taking our Border Collie to sessions with Max for almost a year, starting when he was just a puppy. We were hoping to proactively work on his re -call and general obedience. We chose Max due to his experience with working breeds, and lots of positive recommendations!We found the sessions with Max to be really practical and relaxed; working on training behaviours that will be useful in the real world and with lots of advice on managing breed specific issues as they arise. Our dog genuinely really enjoys going to the training sessions!We credit Max entirely with the fact we have an obedient wee dog, that we can relax and enjoy off lead walks with in any environment!

So far we have had a single session with Max but I was very impressed at the empathetic approach to my puppy which brought about amazing results and demonstrated her potential to me!

We found Max and Action 4 Dogs through Labradors Retrievers in Scotland Facebook group where many people were recommending him and his techniques - now we certainly know why. We asked Max to help with our 18-month old Labrador who became reactive to other dogs due to being attacked as a pup. Just one session with Max has helped us more than 3 (!) previous sessions with another dog trainer. Max really took time to get to know us, our dog and explain what the roots of his problems might be. He showed us and thoroughly explained the techniques that we should implement to help combat the issue rather than just mask it. He also showed us how to engage with our dog more, work with whistle, train recall and overall create a better bond. It’s been nearly two weeks since and our boy is doing so much better, he's slowly starting to realise that dogs are not so scary after all and we finally start counting the progress rather than failures.Max’s knowledge and experience of working with dogs is absolutely amazing. He’s also such a calm and nice person and he’s really patient with both dogs and owners - at the end of the day it’s the owners who need training the most! It’s going to take us a lot of time, work and consistency but I’m so glad that we found Max - he’s always there to help and we will certainly be back if we feel like we need to. I would highly recommend Max - he is just great, our dog loved him and we can’t thank him enough!

Highly recommend Max Muir . He gave me great insight into my dog's behaviour, and those words, it's always the owner's fault , were not spoken ...this was so important as an owner can feel very guilt ridden for their dog's issues.He was calm , professional, full of great advice when working with my dog and me .He gave me a very clear plan which wasn't overly complicated . And , yes ! , it is working. 10 out of 10

Max has been such a pleasure to work with. Me and my partner were needing advice and training techniques for Teddy, our 2 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who had recently become reactive to other dogs on walks.. Max was quick to divise a plan of action and showed us lots of techniques that changed our way of thinking and put us at ease right away which has made life for us and Teddy so much better. We really can't thank him enough for his help and he has continued to support us months after our session!

Max came to our house to assist with a few issues we had with Barney, our 13 week old Cockapoo puppy. We discussed our concerns and very quickly Max was able to identify how to resolve these issues. He very quickly had Barney interacting with him. He has a very calm and reassuring manner which putsBarney at ease.He showed us both confidence building and physical activities to help stimulate Barney. He used passive activities such as nose work which challenged Barney both physically and mentally.Max has a real understanding of dogs and is passionate about his work and we would have no hesitation in recommending him. We found the session very informative and hugely helpful and Max advised we can contact him at any time for further advice. After the session Max emailed follow up notes and helpful training guides.We will certainly be using his training skills in the future

Our training session/consult with Max was absolutely brilliant- he gave us so much information and made it also really easy to understand, and we have seen an enormous improvement with our Spaniel puppy within days of the session.Would highly recommend and will also be keen to do some further Gun Dog training with Max and our puppy when she is older!
