Have banked at York branch over thirty years. Was very good customer service until recent times butfrustratingly poor now...very slow front desk reception often understaffed (can't blame Covid forever). Certain staff whilst polite seem to need better training as I have received contradictory advise on multiple occasions. Sad decline.

Worst bank I’ve been to. Submit a bank letter from my university and all the correct information after being tossed around by them for weeks only for them to tell me that a certified bank letter from my school which they said would work doesn’t work? Huh?

Had a really positive experience in HSBC yesterday. As we walked in, we were instantly greeted by a friendly member of staff. My friend wanted to deposit some money but couldn’t remember his pin. She patiently showed him how to retrieve his pin on online banking, talked him through how to deposit the money, and explained to him how to change his pin to a more memorable one. Above and beyond!

Could not have gone better, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, providing competent solutions for problems and answering quiries. When my mobile ran out of energy whilst setting up the mobile app I was even able to recharge my phone. Definitely ten out of ten in terms of customer service.

As clients of HSBC for several years, we are constantly amazed at the sub par service - as existing customers we need to go in branch to open an additional account. Prior to which, we need to call the bank to get pre checked, then wait on advice about the next steps to be taken. Utterly astonishing

Always understaffed and nearly always staff there don’t know what they are doing. The blond haired Manager is equally as good at delegating any issues instead of taking ownership of them. I went in on Friday lunchtime at a school half term and they had 1 member of staff looking after general queries and two desk based staff that was it! All other members of staff were in training or on lunch! Where’s the customer centric thinking of staff resourcing! Blind leading the blind

Great service! They were able to sort out my problems with the openning of an account. Despite lot of customers short waiting time. If each bank had such a team, world would be a much nicer place.

When i make an appointment online for my debit card for international students, they called me and asked if i can change the date so that they can work with multiple students at once. It was no problem for me. The process is long (took me about an hour to get everything done, mostly just waiting and setting up securities for my account), but the staffs are very kind and nice. They made sure that i understand what i can do with this debit account and what i can't do, what should i remember and what do i need to do in case something happens.

My wife and I are existing customers, we arrived at the bank on a Saturday 40mins before closing, but because what we wanted to do takes 45minutes we were turned away and asked to come back another day. I work 6 days a week at the times the bank is open so I managed to get off early enough to get there on a Saturday and we were turned away. Time to seek out a more competent competitor.
