We contacted Ian and agreed on a quote and time scale for a 4 x 7m rear extension.Initially started well, seemed professional and tradesmen turned up on time, etc.The first issue was a lazy brick layer, good work but very slow and didn't seem bothered, but good work non the less. The main issues we had came when the construction was nearly complete (well past schedule may I add), when we were told he forgot to add the whole roof construction in the quote! He initially wanted an extra 9k! However, Ian did deal with this amicably, we agreed on a price to pay and changes to finishing work to offset the rest (issues happen OK for now).Then, once structure complete, we needed to fit a water trap to the gutter downpipe to pass building regs. This took months to get Ian to finally drop off the parts, no attempt to fit them or time he would do it; so I fitted it in the end.Also, from the time the bifold doors were fitted they didn't operate correctly, pulling the rubber seal out every time they were opened. We told Ian and dispute plenty of reminders over the course of a whole year, and promises to have a look, he never came. Eventually we paid a window company to come and fix them at a cost of £120. It turns out the frame is slightly twisted and the glass was installed incorrectly.Unfortunately, this seems like one if those cases where once they are paid they forget about you. Such a shame because he was a nice guy. Perhaps it was because he lost some money by mis-quoting? But still no excuse for unprofessional behaviour.Overall we have a structurally sound extension but a headache of a process. My advice is don't pay until your satisfied and check the quote because it obviously can't be trusted.
