Good coffee but it gets very busy and despite lots of staff, the wait can be long. Dog friendly and there's a lovely garden area at the back.

Firstly, disregard any earlier reviews about this being empty or there being nothing here. This is a wonderful and evolving project to totally restore a historic building for the benefit of all. This building dates back 150 years to the days of Brunel and has a history all of its own, it is listed and has been lovingly restored by a dedicated team to a very high standard. The name comes from its use as a storage shed for the carts that travelled out on to the estuary to retrieve ordinance that was being developed and tested. It will become a heritage centre telling the internationally important story of Shoeburyness, how it was founded and the role the Garrison had in its evolution. The team are working very hard to make this happen.Meanwhile, the cafe ('Serendipity'), which as others have said, is dog friendly and has its own free car park - is fully up and running and is run by the most amazingly friendly and attentive staff.Lots of feedback was sought from passing walkers as to what they would like to see on the site and a place to rest and meet up with a cuppa was the most popular choice. It is a welcoming and wonderful place to enjoy as part of a walk or on its own. An amazing place to meet a friend for a relaxed coffee. It has to be experienced - I cannot explain it's atmosphere in words. When the heritage centre is completed, this will become a first class attraction that Shoebury and indeed, Southend and further, will be very proud of.My heartfelt thanks go to David who generously gave his time to show me round.

Service is a bit all over the place but the egg, bacon and sausage baguette made up for it. Delicious and good value.

Great cafe and food. Dog friendly as well so caters for walkers with or without furry friends. Interesting area with field gun and history of the area.

It was very busy and it did take quite a while to be served our lunch but it was busy and we understand how busy a kitchen can be under that amount of pressure. Nice, very useful location for a coffee and bite to eat while walking round the garrison. Lots to see in the cafe. Very friendly staff and food was ok.

Place was very warm inside when visited. Dogs had been exercising for a couple of hours so wanted another drink. Put some water in a bowl on the floor and was advised dogs not allowed to drink inside and have to go outside?! Dog friendly?.......Drinks were good quality but took over 20 minutes to arrive. Bought some doggy sausages that were enjoyed.I found odd you can put food bowls on the floor, that can have spillages and be tripped over, but not a water bowl. There should be an area inside that dogs can drink

Nice friendly cafe. No pressure here and no rush like at some places. Food and service is as good as you would expect from a cafe like this.If you want an afternoon lunch and coffee you won't do much better anywhere else. There is also a few exhibits from the old barracks. The main one is a cannon which most kids will like.
