JB Karate Derby | JB Karate Academy Derdy is one of the leading family karate clubs in the Derby area, we teach students from the age of seven to adults in their 60's. All of our classes are structured to ensure we provide you with a perfectly safe and friendly environment to learn martial arts and everyone is made to feel very welcome!

JBK Karate Derby
My son started at JB Karate 10 years ago and was instantly made to feel like part of a family. The club gave him confidence and taught him discipline and we watched him grow each and every week whilst learning a tremendous skill. Now nearly 18 and he still loves attending the classes twice a week, it is a continuous learning journey, he never tires of. I would highly recommend JBK to anybody, best Karate club in Derby.

JB Karate academy is a brilliant family, friendly club, with a variety of ages training weekly you’re able to get fit, make new friends and learn new skills. JBK are a family for life, the club welcome you with open arms. A lot of students join when they are young and grow to become adults in the club- the progress and achievements are celebrated in the best possible way.

This is a fantastic martial arts club that welcomes the whole family. The instructors have decades of experience, are always friendly and all abilities are welcome. The club teaches the importance of respect, discipline and that hard work will result in big rewards.I can not recommend this club enough, having trained here for over 12 years.

I went along for a free trial class in 2013 to be perfectly honest for a bit of a laugh, I was supporting a colleague. After my first class completed in scruffy clothes found in the bottom of the drawer I thought well this is hard! JBK is a family club to me means everyone is welcome all levels, all abilities, you get out what you put in. If you are looking for a true martial arts dojo that incorporates fitness, competition, tradition and some humour there is no better choice than JBK, my 5 stone weight loss, my confidence and fitness are attributed to JBK.

My son wanted to start karate and after watching him for a while in class I decided to join in and I absolutely love it. It is a very supportive, encouraging and non judgemental environment, suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness. Everyone is made to feel welcome and equal. The karate teaching helps children learn how to stay focused and be respectful of one another. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn karate, self defence and increase their fitness.

I was looking to get fit but more importantly I was looking for something that would involve my family as well. It is such a welcoming and supportive environment and so much more than I anticipated. It became a rewarding journey and a transformation in the end, way beyond my expectations. All my children achieved a high standard but taking my Blackbelt alongside my eldest son was the highlight and something that will stay with me forever.

I highly recommend this club whether a child or adult, it caters for everyone at all levels. You will be most welcomed and highly supported. There is no intimidation here and you travel your own journey at your own pace. I have made many friends and achieved more than I thought I would in the years I have been with the club. If you are searching for a traditional, professional, friendly and highly committed training club you won't be disappointed.

My son Owen who was 4 nearly 5 at the time wanted to try karate, and he wanted me to go with him for his first lesson! I looked at other clubs but chose JBK as they are family friendly and Sensei John and Sensei Jane have really encouraged us both over the years to reach our goals. 10 years on and we are both now 1st Dan Black belts and we’re not planning on stopping any time soon. It’s also great see how much Owen’s confidence has grown. We can’t recommend JBK enough, 5 stars all the way
