Contacted M F Architecture Ltd in Feb 2022 to explore the possibility of altering a window on my Grade 2 listed property as their website stated that they had experience of working with listed buildings. We arranged for their architect to come and scope the property and have a consultation and we were assured that not only did they have experience in doing this kind of work locally (so we’re familiar with the council and planning applications) but that the works proposed were feasible.A few weeks later we had the first drawings which matched what we had described and that is when it all went wrong. Getting amendments via emails was sometimes slow and at times a month would go by with no communication. Then when we got to the stage of contacting the council (they offer services in stages that you can opt in/out of - as they convinced us of their expertise and experience we were prepared to use all of their services) it fell apart.For the 10 months that followed (the rest of 2022) we went back and forth on emails, with council rejecting all of their proposals. In January 2023, after being annoyed that they clearly didn’t have the expertise or knowledge that they presented, I asked them to just get a simplified plan approved by the Council. FIVE months later, the architect contacts me to apologise on behalf of the council (not their own poor service) and advising that the council had rejected the simplified proposal.I contacted the architect to express my disappointment in their service levels and work and was advised that the director would contact me within 48hrs and I have not received any communication from them.In my current position I have paid M F Architecture Ltd for a service that they have been unable to provide, received poor basic customer service and had my complaint ignored.They may be great at providing basic drawings but I would not recommend them for any services involving listed buildings or conservation areas as they clearly don’t have the expertise or communication skills required for complex projects!
