We visited while on our honeymoon. The food was very nice and priced similar to other local restaurants in Looe. Loved the quirky decor and setting and the service was very good. Would return if ever back in Looe again.

A perfect evening.Honestly the best meal I’ve had this year. We found this place by happy accident. The food was outstanding and plentiful. The staff were attentive and friendly. Would love to visit again. I had the mackerel pate and the mussels in samphire and chorizo! My husband have the filet steak which he said melted in his mouth! If you’re in Looe, get yourself down here for a fantastic meal.

My wife and I came in for Sunday lunch and it was all perfect, did not disappoint. Wasn't technically a carvery as food was bought to us but we didnt mind. Service was excellent, ambience was great and we were sat directly below timber beams from the armada. Roast beef was cooked perfectly, plenty of veg for 2 and they even bought out extra gravy without us asking. Lots of condiments on the table, perfect!

Great restaurant in the centre of Looe. Feels like it has lots of history behind it and to be fair it does being Looes oldest building. The menu is varied and has seafood, meat and veggie options. We found the seafood was cooked really well, tasted fresh, and was overall great. What did let it down was the other options. For main, we had the pork and the steak, both of which just were not that nice. We also had a side of brie wedges that came out after the other stuff but were unfortunately still cold in the middle. To sum up worth a visit but stick to the seafood options which they do really well.

In Short: Café Standard FoodMy wife visited this this fish restaurant is in the heart of Looe for a birthday celebration. It is one of the oldest buildings in the quaint harbour town of Looe. The décor is great and in keeping with a smugglers cott.My wife ordered the crab cakes and I ordered the mussels for starters followed by sea bass fillets for the wife and the whole plaice for myself. The three crab cakes were tiny and served with a side salad, a dip and lemon (£9.25). The mussels were a small portion with a small amount of thin white wine sauce. The mussels were perfectly cooked but the sauce was poor. I have had much better. Both were served with a bread roll and butter. Both main courses were served with a mixture of chips and boiled potatoes, red cabbage, carrots and broccoli. The 'whole' plaice was served without head and tail (no problem) and was with samphire. It was excellent and was £25.The sea bass fillets were however a serious disappointment. The dish consisted of two farmed sea bass fillets with a slice of charred lemon. The same sea bass fillets that one can get at Aldi for £3.19 for two.I expect a Cornish fish restaurant that is less than 75yds from a fish market to be able to provide fresh fish from the sea rather than a Turkish farmed product especially with a £22 price tag. This is only café standard and the plaice has rescued this restaurant review from two stars. We live locally and there is so much better elsewhere.

Dined here three times now, picked it for the history and atmosphere. This really does provoke the imagination to years gone by. Menu has not changed since we first went here, but this is not a negative, it is a good well rounded menu and the food has always been cooked perfectly. Pick a dark cold and wet evening then sit back and relax in this cosy restaurant.

We were very lucky to get a table here on a busy Sunday lunchtime. The staff were very accommodating for 2 adults and a young child. We had the roast dinners which were absolutely delicious! Very generous with the sides and gravy portion. We also shared a dessert which was great too! Would highly recommend :)

This restaurant is fantastic, the steak was very well cooked and the chips were lovely, I absolutely love the atmosphere here, came here with my girlfriend and will be back again next time we're in Cornwall.

The place itself is nice, cozy and full of history. The food is not bad but too simple and old at times. The mussels and scallops as starters were really nice but as shown on the pictures the little salad next to the scallops was wilted and with no real meaning. The beef medallions were nice but nothing special, a staple but a bit overcooked. The seabass was fresh but the roasted tomatoes next to it were cold. Along those two mains we've also received some fried chunky chips that were too brown and soaked in oil, new potatoes in butter that were nice, and a selection of three veggies just blanched like it was 1950. Cute experience inside but the food doesn't reflect the high prices.

Very nice restaurant excellent staff very friendly. The atmosphere is amazing made to look old fashioned and pirate like. I had the beef carvery it was excellent. However there was no traditional pudding like apple pie etc and I had to get a pasty as I was still hungry.
