We came to an art exhibition and found the tables and chairs set up outside. What a wonderful scene of old England. A bucolic idyll of teas,, cake, sandwiches and sausage rolls. The art, by local artist Sue Prince, was rather good, however, the eight-hundred year old church just takes ones breath away.

Beautiful grade 1 listed church, some parts dating from the 12th century. Houses some parts of Saxon crosses and other Saxon stones. Also has probably the oldest dated gravestone in the country.

Very interesting and welcoming church. Self service refreshments inside, perhaps because it is part of the 'Peak Pilgrimage'. In the graveyard is a memorial stone to Ann Green dated 1518, believed to be the oldest legible gravestone in England - it has a short 6 inch white wooden fence around it. There is also a sundial (modern mount) on a possibly re-used cross shaft. Inside there are some low 17th century pews. Not much parking space, but this is a church worth seeing.
