Tried to go in sat night, 2 couples after we had just had a meal round the corner. Place looked empty , sign said open but he told us full to capacity, bar lad didn’t believe we were from York, we’ve grown up and lived in York all our lives, he said I sounded like a cockney!If your face fits kind of attitude

We nipped into here for some lunch. I had the burger and fries and one had a toastie and the other 2 had sandwiches. We all enjoyed our food. The rhubarb cider was lovely.Very busy as the Christmas markets are on but we managed to get a table

Love this place and we always visit when we are in York. Husband loves the pie and mushy peas and I love the ploughman's, all fantastic and service is always fabulous. Beer garden is great to people watch with a beer or two or to just chill and listen to the live music if they have some on. Well worth a visit. Dog friendly too.

What a great gem of a place this is. If you enter the premises via the Shambles it looks small but don't be fooled, it has a lot of seating areas at the back, upstairs and undercover outside where you can watch the hustle and bustle of the market. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a great variety of ales and drinks to choose from. I personally didn't eat there, but what food I did see looked good.

Here for the Christmas Market. Wanted breakfast. Excellent food, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Excellent price for breakfast and 2 latter's £23.80.

Very friendly and helpful, super clean with sanitiser everywhere which is nice these days! Amazing choice of beers and ciders on draught and in cans and fab live music on a Thursday evening. Lovely covered seating area outside too.

Must visit in York City Centre!! A wide variety of ales, beers, ciders, and liquors. The staff was friendly and courteous. Prices are reasonable and are similar to other pubs. Didn't rate the food due to not purchasing
