The food certainly tastes authentic Malaysian and the cleanliness is average. But the food is overpriced and the portions are small. If you are not too keen on Malaysian food, there are plenty of options in Edinburgh where food is cheaper and tastes better.

A superb little BYOB Asian restaurant with tasty and highly value-for-money food. Hard pressed to choose something every time I go there because every dish I've had so far is delicious. Doesn't hurt that their service is great too.

Had the lunchtime specials a couple of times. Quite nice but nothing special, will need to give the dinner a menu a go though as looks like it has a good selection of Malaysian dishes.

This local place is actually one of my favourite places to eat in Edinburgh. I've visited quite a few, and there are not many on my list! The dishes I recommend and order most often from here are the Roti Cenai, the Rendang Beef and the Golden Spicy Roast Duck. I'd like to see what other reviewers think about this and find out what they like?I've also been to their other smaller restaurant in Newington. It was always full and I can see why they had to open another one.

Step right in to the wonderful world of Kampung Ali. Lights, music, action. I've never been to Malaysia but this food makes me want to get on the next flight out. Noodles made in house and packed with flavour. Don't let the menu with scrubbed out prices fool you, this is great value for tasty Asian fair.

We visited this restaurant at the weekend with our friends whilst visiting Edinburgh for the Fringe.Food was really tasty. We ordered a selection of starters. Ribs, chicken wings, won tons, chicken satay.I had the red chicken curry for my main, with fried rice. We really enjoyed our tasty meals!

Very authentic Malaysian restaurant. The food is fantastic and the staff will give you recommendations if you are unfamiliar with the cuisine. They also have Malaysian drinks and deserts to try. They also have another one on South Clerk Street that is more cafe-style with table crammed together. I would recommend either but this one is a little fancier so depends what you want.

Authentic, traditional Malaysian restaurant in Edinburgh.Restaurant is large but is always busy which makes a great buzz about the place.Food is so tasty and very large selection available you'll struggle to decide what to have as all the photos of the dishes on the menu look amazing.Prices are very reasonable and service was good. Probably the best Malaysian restaurant in Edinburgh, although there maybe isn't many.

This Malaysian restaurant ranks highly on my fondometer. I like it a lot without ever having eaten especially nice things here. Which is quite a thing to pull off for a restaurant! I especially like the service; the waitors are always really friendly and take the time to explain the special dish to me (the one I always go for and then wish I hadn't because it's quite strange and all of my friends' meals look nicer) Go here, enjoy the barmy decor and order a dish you recognise!

The starters were quite delicious. The rice was cooked perfectly. But everything else was ok.The squid I received was overcooked. It was like chewing on an old boot and odd.The menu and toilets were filthy. The place needs a clean. I certainly hope the kitchen is much more cleaner than the rest of the restaurant. In the men's toilet. While doing ones business. I can look at the mirror and look out to the hall. The doors are obviously left open to dilute the smell.Recommendations to the restaurant owner are.1) give the place a good clean2) replace the old worn menu's.3) work on quality control.4) close the toilet doors.5) put the ladders In the hall out of sight .If I owned a restaurant I would not serve lime slices that have gone old and dried out. I expect everything to be fresh. I'm paying for fresh good food. Don't compromise on quality.
