Agnes Ali Behavioural Optometry & Vision Therapy

My Son had eye sessions with Agnes over a 6 month period. 6 sessions in total plus a pre-assessment and a final assessment. The results were absolutely amazing. He enjoyed the sessions and also the daily exercises that we did. The sessions have helped his reading, his balance, his co-ordination and also his confidence. He has always been good at Maths but his English marks have been much improved and he is no longer behind in these areas. Agnes is very friendly, very knowledgeable and great with kids. Agnes saw my autistic teen today, she was incredibly patient with her, explained the whole process in an email before the appointment so she had time to process and made sure she understood exactly what was going on throughout the assessment. I came to Agnes a little over year after leaving school, with issues relating to my balance which had severely knocked my confidence. In under a year, thanks to a number of consultations and prescribed daily exercises, my stability when walking, running and balancing has greatly improved and I have regained my self confidence. I am immensely grateful to Agnes for what she has helped me to achieve and I recommend her very highly.

We have been seeing Agnes for almost a year with my daughter Jessica who is now 9 years old. Agnes has helped Jessica so much, before we started Jessica was below the level of where she should be for her age with reading and spelling. After 12 or so sessions of Visual Behavioural Therapy with Agnes Jessica is now slightly above the level that she should be. I can only say this is down to our Therapy sessions with Agnes and Jessica’s hard work and determination. I would highly recommend Agnes, she is very knowledgeable, approachable and professional and we will be forever grateful for all the help she has given Jessica. The sessions were fun and engaging and Jessica really enjoyed going.

Agnes is incredible, she has built a wonderful relationship with Maisie which is vital to enable her to engage. She works with Maisie’s enthusiasm and interests, meaning that she is keen to do her exercises every evening. The control Maisie is gaining in her eye movement is incredible, and the understanding we now have about her condition has helped us to get the assistance she requires in school and in exams access arrangements. Part of working with a condition is understanding it, and Agnes can explain what is happening between the eyes, brain and body in a way that makes sense, we have had so many “aha” moments with Agnes. Not only is the vision and hearing improving, but I have also noticed an improvement in Maisie’s self-esteem from understanding herself more through her time with Agnes too.

Agnese is amazing, my daughter was struggling with spelling and reading and I thought she may have been dyslexic so I asked the school who were absolutely useless, anyway I decided that the only way was to pay for my own dyslexia test, on speaking to the lady she said she would first recommend a behavioural optometrist appointment as it could be a problem with my daughter's eyes and not dyslexia, we went to see Agnes and paid for a very thorough test and she found my daughter had weak eye muscles and prescribed her bifocals, she had only recently had an eye test and this wasn't picked up on a standard NHS eye test, the change to my daughter's reading was immediate she soon became top of the class after struggling for years before, Agnes worked with my daughter on her vision and coordination for 6 months and the difference is huge she is much less clumsy, more focused, less headaches and doing really well at school, if you think your child may be dyslexic I highly recommend you go and see Agnes first. Thank you Agnes you are amazing. You have changed my daughter's life for the better literally and opened up so many doors for her.

Agnes was referred to us by The Vision Centre in Gloucester. Our daughter had undiagnosed learning difficulties and Agnes quickly recognised visual impairments and some infant reflexes in our child which were creating barriers to her ability to learn. After a six month course of focussed exercises combined with monthly progress assessments, our daughter’s academic work has improved significantly. She can concentrate for longer periods which has increased her confidence in the classroom. Agnes’ approach is sympathetic and encouraging without being condescending. We highly recommend Agnes and her services. After a very thorough assessment it was clear my then 7 year old needed some help with her tracking problem. She was struggling at school and at all her various sports and extra curricular activities. She had approximately 9 months of treatment (about a session a month) and is no longer behind at school. She is infact excelling, her balance and coordination problems have been completely recified and in turn her confidence in her own abilities has absolutely rocketed.
