French Lessons Brighton and Hove

Started lessons with Suzanne last may ( 2017) and I'm really enjoying my French now. I'm a very slow learner and she has been very patience with me and we go over things again and again so I'm more confident in my speaking. I have weekly lessons. Suzanne is French native from (alsace Lorraine region) and also speaks fluent German. I would highly recommend her as a French teacher.

Fabrice has been tutoring my nine year old daughters and their friend for a year now, and it has been really beneficial in enabling them to keep in touch with their French heritage. Fabrice is very kind and considerate and he manages to keep the three girls engaged for 90 minutes as the sessions are animated and varied - with a bit of grammar, reading, writing, comprehension and spoken French all thrown into one lesson. We are very happy with this arrangement and we also have a good working relationship with Suzanne as far as payments and logistics are concerned!

Hi, I have recently completed 10 one to one lessons with Suzanne and I must say it has helped me enormously. Being a mature student and out of the education loop for many years I really appreciated her patience, knowledge and friendly approach. I will be going back for more.

I can thoroughly recommend Suzanne as a tutor. We had weekly Skype lessons over summer to help me get my rusty French up to speed for work. She really quickly identified which areas I needed to focus on and set up fun, well structured lessons to address the issues. She was super at finding relevant and interesting material to discuss. Suzanne was engaged by my family to assist with problems arising from the ownership of an old house in the Southwest of France. She proved to be an invaluable ally, invariably friendly and patient and empathetic, and with the aid of her considerable language skills the problems were resolved to the satisfaction of my family.

I was a tutor at French Lessons Brighton & Hove for a few months this past year and I can only say it’s been a pleasure working there. The experience I’ve had with the students was great and enriching, and all the lessons always happened in a nice, cordial environment. Suzanne was also great to work with and a great help as I was only starting to teach, she helped guiding me, I am very grateful for that! I would definitely recommend FLBH to any tutors interested in teaching French and to anyone wanting to learn French in a casual, pleasant atmosphere.

I contacted Suzanne because I was looking for something quite niche. I was getting married and my partner is french, I wanted to learn some phrases to use at the wedding with his family. I also wanted help translating some of my wedding vows. Suzanne was very prompt in her replies and was keen to help me out! I met my tutor, Julia, who visited me at home once a week for 5 weeks before the wedding. We went through some helpful phrases, we did some role play to practice, Julia also took it on herself to help me refresh some basic french skills which helped me to follow the replies of my conversation partner. Julia was very friendly, professional and a patient teacher. She was very encouraging and boosted my confidence during a stressful time trying to organise a wedding!! I would very much recommend the team and I was grateful that they could meet my, quite unusual, needs. Thank you Julia!!

Suzanne is an excellent teacher and a lovely person. I've had a great experience learning French with her. It has been a perfect balance of conversation practise and grammar / technical learning. She makes me stay in French as much as possible during our lessons and when there is something I don't understand, I have learned to ask for clarification in French and she will explain it again using different words in Fench. We will then work through any parts of the language used that I haven't understood. We only fall back to English as a last resort if I'm really struggling to comprehend! Highly recommended.

I have just finished a course of intermediate lessons with Apolline and can wholeheartedly recommend her as a tutor.We worked together for over 10 weeks and throughout that time she was a real inspiration, making the lessons really fun & varied and always ensuring it was geared to my language level (A level, several decades back...!).She herself is very professional, as well as friendly and incredibly patient, she was always super encouraging the whole time, tailoring the course to my needs & the areas I wanted to focus on – plus my energy levels on the day! Apolline is certainly a delightful credit to Suzanne's team.Whatever online courses are available, to my mind nothing really beats 1-2-1 classes in order to really progress with a language. So massive thank you, Apolline and Suzanne, much indebted, this has been a fantastic all round learning experience and I definitely aim to resume classes again with you at some stage, it has certainly reignited my love of the French language :-)

I had an initial 10 lessons with Suzanne, meeting for a coffee for our first session to see how much I could remember from school and go back to the basics I had definitely forgotten! Suzanne is a great teacher, very easy to talk to and had a great understanding of what things would work best for me. The lessons were flexible and progressed naturally from topic to topic, covering basic as well as some more advanced grammar, French idioms, conversational skills and role play. If you're looking to learn French in a natural, interesting and genuinely fun way, then I couldn't recommend Suzanne highly enough!
