Birth, Baby and You

We came to see Dee for a tongue tie assessment and correction after realising at 4 months, our son had tongue tie. I’d noticed his latch had suddenly changed and he had been having trouble gaining weight and so it was important to get it sorted quickly. Having been referred by our GP, the wait via NHS was over three months which was just way too long to wait as he had to start gaining weight properly and the tongue tie was clearly affecting his feeding. We managed to get an appointment with Dee very quickly and all I can say is, thank goodness we made contact as our son’s feeding has improved dramatically and subsequently he is now gaining weight properly. The procedure itself was super quick, he cried a little as expected but soon stopped after some breastfeeding afterwards which Dee also helped me with an alternative position to try. Prior to the procedure, he was really enjoying the assessment with lots of smiles and giggles! We had great aftercare advice and the exercises to do after are really easy but I knew if I ever had a problem, I could make contact with Dee and get advice. Dee even invited us back a week later to have him weighed to see if there was any early progress, which amazingly, there was! Overall, we had a really positive experience and would urge anyone considering making contact to do so, any anxieties and worries I had were quickly gone when I was there.

Dee is an absolute expert in her field. Her assessment was both professional and kindhearted. Our daughter needed the tongue tie cut, which Dee did very quickly and skilfully. Safe to say I cried more than the baby! Dee then took the time with us to support in breast feeding positions and advice to ensure effective and comfortable feeding for both of us. I learned a lot and this is my second breast fed baby.Very grateful and cannot recommend enough - whether baby is tongue tied or simply for breastfeeding education and support; Dee is the lady you need to see.

We were told at birth that our daughter might have a tongue tie. A couple of weeks ago, we looked online and found Birth, Baby and you and booked an appointment, the whole experience was amazing, we were very nervous since we didn't know what to expect but Dr Dee was outstanding, she explained us the whole process, checked our daughter, gave us advises and proceeded with frenulotomy after us agreeing with it. It was painless for our daughter, few minutes later she was already smiling again, and now two weeks later we can see the huge improvements with her tongue movements. We really recommend Dr Dee not just for tongue ties but for all the aspects around breastfeeding (she gave us some precious advises).

We took our daughter to see Dee as we were having difficulties with breastfeeding & was told she had a borderline tongue tie. Dee was so kind & patient; she helped with positioning and gave us other tips and tricks to try at home. In the end we decided not to go ahead with getting our daughter’s tongue cut and we’re so glad we didn’t as feeding is now fully back on track. Recently attended the clinic with my 3 week old baby as we spotted that he had a suspected tongue tie, so we booked him in for an assessment. Really easy to book online, and managed to get him seen within days.He had struggled to latch to the breast when he was born so we had to bottle feed him with formula, however he was also sucking in lots of air when bottle feeding and suffering with trapped wind.We saw Dee who immediately confirmed tongue tie and offered us the choice to have the procedure there and then. It was very swift and our little one was able to feed immediately. Dee was amazing with him, he was really at ease.Dee was then able to offer invaluable advance on feeding position and pace feeding, as well as possible bottles to try. She also noticed his retracted jaw which would have also impacted initial feeding and recommended we see an Osteo.Follow up advice and information is great. Really clear and informative.Our little boy is feeding much better already, so hoping to see some improvements in his wind in the coming weeks as he gets used to his new tongue movement.The team were amazing, would highly recommend.

I booked an appointment for my 6-week-old as I suspected tongue tie due to my daughter having one and a few feeding issues/supplementing with formula however it turned out he didn't have it which I'm pleased about. Dee gave some good tips for breastfeeding but throughout the appointment, I did find her quite patronizing when we were discussing what I'm doing with feeding etc.

Dee and her team were fantastic. Not only was Dee informative and thorough she was also kind and empathetic. I would highly recommend to anyone.

We are so pleased we went to see Dee, she confirmed our daughter did not have a tongue tie despite being told by the hospital that she did, she was also able to help me establish a feeding plan so I could breast feed.We felt so well informed and positive after our appointment and would highly recommend.

Dee has been an absolute god send. GPs and hospital failed to notice my son is tongue tied but the health visitor sent us to a lactation specialist who advised he was. Unfortunately NHS let us down again due to long wait times so we found Dee on the nhs recommended private tongue tie specialists website.Dee also confirmed my son has tongue tie and carried out the procedure within minutes. Dee made my son Aaron feel at ease, he cried during and shortly after the procedure but we fed him straight after and he was absolutely fine like nothing happened. Dee was also extremely informative and helpful! Aaron has already started gaining wait, being ever so content and sleeping more throughout the night.I would definitely recommend Dee to anyone who thinks their child may have suspected tongue tie or need feeding support as she definitely is the answer and the help/support you may just need.Thanks again Dee!Sonia

By baby had his tongue tie cut at 8 weeks old due to feeding issues, reflux, and colic. I can’t recommend birth baby and you enough! Dee was so calm and really talks you through the process before going ahead along with giving lots of useful tips! Wouldn’t go anywhere else with my future babies if they also suffer with tongue tie.
