In spring, the surrounding nature comes alive with vibrant blooms. Summer beckons with its warm sunshine, making it perfect for a family picnic on the spacious grounds. Autumn paints a breathtaking canvas of red and gold hues, while winter's serene beauty adds a unique charm.Our family often brings our bikes along for a delightful ride on the nearby trails. The viaduct's location offers access to scenic routes, making it an ideal destination for a family bike trip. The kids particularly enjoy exploring the area on their bikes.Bennerley Viaduct is a gem for families seeking a place to create lasting memories. Its versatility, picturesque setting, and rich history make it a must-visit destination. Whether it's a leisurely walk, a picnic, a photoshoot, or a bike adventure, this place has it all. It's become a part of our family's story, and we look forward to many more visits in the future.

Finally managed a visit on a perfect autumn day, and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Very impressed by how the Viaduct has been restored and good views from several viewpoints. One small criticism was the lack of benches or picnic area which I know is on the agenda for the future

It had its ups and downs and a rustic charm.It was a lovely walk from the canal tow path and it is free to get on it either by walking up steps or a slope for wheelchair and pram access.There are great views from it.

Great architectical structure which offers some great views of the surrounding countryside. Having the walkway across the viaduct allows for lots of circular walk options and a chance to explore the Nottingham Canal with some great viewing points to see the viaduct along the way.

Nice place.Has a lot of history and interesting facts.Lovely for a walk with dog or family.Really enjoyed with my lad.He’s 6 and he loved it - especially on the top of the viaduct :)

This hidden little beauty has multiple trails to get on route here depending where you arrive from etc..... It has a snaking pathway up to the top where you can take in the spectacular views all around you..... Then if feeling brave head on over this viaduct to the other side to continue another quiet miles long trail and trails..... Nature at its finest around here

The best place to park is Newton Lane car park. Postcode NG16 2SD.This is easily found off of the main road A6096 . Turn off and the entrance is immediately on the left. There are only a few spaces, but its free to park.Cross the road , walk along the canal to the end, then turn left and you'll see the entrance.It's certainly not an all day event, neither does it take long to walk across the actual bridge..It's safe for dogs and children, and there are no dangerous holes!!Think of it more as a piece of history.Walking boots not needed.Not muddy.Not the best for prams..Push bikes ok yes.No toilets or cafe available.Great to stop off and look at yes.

Beautiful place filled with untouched nature. The views from the viaduct are stunning and the views under the viaduct even better. I use the location for some of my beautiful family photoshoots.

Great addition to the Erewash Valley and a bracing walk at all times of year with splendid views. It is an amazing piece of engineering that deserved to be rescued and opened up for use. There are no facilities here, just a walk and connect with Ilkestons industrial heritage. Parking is off Shilo way in a little car park on the canal. 10 minutes to walk to start finish, but the walks around it go on for miles.

Fabulous place with breathtaking views. There is also a viewpoint bridge before you get to it but this is all steps. There is easy access via a ramp style walk way to the viaduct bridge. A safe walkway under feet and wheels. There were a few parents with children in pushchairs and cyclists. It's close to a canal and wooded walks. Well worth a visit with a picnic on a lovely day.
