Reigate Castle Grounds
A very nice and beautiful place with a nice entrance which is like a castle gate. Plenty of space for picnic, walking and children playing around.

Reigate Castle Grounds
Now it is used as public garden. The gate in the picture is the highlight of the place but you can see the history. I think tulips will be very beautiful there.

Lovely gardens, you wouldn't think it was in the middle of the town! Shame the steps up to it are quite dirty.

Nice peaceful gardens set on a hill over Reigate. Lots of benches and flower gardens and a green lawn for picnics. Some castle remains but they’re “modern” 1777 additions. The original castle dates from 1088.

Reigate Castle Grounds
Although now ruined, Reigate Castle was once an important stronghold. Built around 1150, the castle was captured by the French in 1216 before passing through the hands of various Lords of the Manor of Reigate. The castle was lived in until the 16th century when it began to decay. After being used as a garrison during the Civil War in 1648, it was demolished.In 1777, a mock medieval gateway was constructed on the ruins, which you can still see today. The Castle grounds are used as public gardens.

Reigate Castle Grounds
This place could not be any more amazing. It’s historical and giant, away from the bustle of the high street with a view for miles. The castle itself isn’t much of a castle but still shows remains to this day. Surrounding is a small lake off of London Road, an also wonderful place within the grounds.

Interesting, but mostly in terms of the general location, a folly-style gatehouse and the history of the salt mines and the tunnel under the castle.

Reigate Castle Grounds
Historic site of Reigate Castle, now only the gatehouse remains, but information boards explain more about the area's history. The former castle grounds are now a park, ideal for a quick dog walk or to find a peaceful spot away from the bustle of town.
